Central Team Apprentice Administrator

The St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust have an exciting opportunity for a committed Business Administrator to join our centralised HR Team, based in Chester Green, Derby.

The role is offered on a full time, all year-round basis, however we may also welcome applications from candidates on a term time basis (plus a specified number of weeks).

Part of the Diocese of Nottingham, the St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust (CMAT) central team provides a professional, centralised service to a family of 25 schools comprising of 20 primary and 5 secondary across Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Stockport. The central team focus on School Improvement, Finance, HR, Estates and Chaplaincy to improve outcomes for all our pupils across the Trust.

You will have the responsibility of dealing with all visitors to the Trust central office in a professional, welcoming manner and answering, managing and directing all telephone calls to the Trust efficiently and providing an effective and efficient customer service/reception and administrative support service to the Executive Team, central teams, academies and Trust, covering a wide range of work roles.

You will need to be highly organised, with the ability to multi task and maintain strong attention to detail. You must have excellent IT skills, especially word and excel spreadsheets. Whilst being a Catholic is not a requirement, you must be willing to support the Catholic life and ethos in our academies.

You will also undertake level 2 or level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship via a local training provider.

Lay Chaplain

St Joseph’s, St George’s, St Alban’s, St John Fisher’s and St Thomas’

Hours:  37 Hours per week, 42 weeks per year

Grade/SCP: SRS Band 4 

Unqualified/No degree - SCP 21, Full Time Equivalent £20,541  

Actual Salary - £18,696 with term time hours

Qualified/Degree - SCP 24 – Full Time Equivalent £22,401

Actual Salary - £20,389 with term time hours

Contract: 1 Year Fixed Term, with the intention to review at the end of the contract 

Location: Split across the Derby Primary schools of St Joseph’s, St George’s, St Alban’s, St John Fisher’s and St Thomas’ in Ilkeston

The St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust seeks to appoint a full time Lay Chaplain to work across work across the Derby CITY primary schools of St Joseph’s, St George’s, St John Fisher, St Alban’s and St Thomas’ in Ilkeston 

This new position is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and practising Catholic to help guide children in their Catholic faith journey in school. Their time would be split a day a week in each primary school supporting the further development of Collective Worship and opportunities for pupils to live out their faith in school.

There are strong links amongst the primary schools in the CMAT and by working across multiple schools it is hoped the successful candidate will make these links even stronger and help empower the pupils to explore their faith more and take a leading role in shaping how this is celebrated. 

This is a reserved post within a Catholic school and the successful candidate would need to be a practising Catholic. The Lay Chaplain would work alongside experienced and dedicated staff in each school in animating the Religious Education, Catholic Life and Collective Worship of the schools and would have regular mentor meetings with the Lead Lay Chaplain of the St Ralph Sherwin CMAT to help them flourish in their new role. There would also be the opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship degree programme with the Diocese of Nottingham in Chaplaincy and youth work with no tuition fee costs to the candidate

As of 1st September 2018, we have brought together 25 schools from Derby City, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Stockport and Nottinghamshire (of which 20 are primary and 5 are secondary) to form the Trust.
